Group Class Program (Ages 3-Adult)
Group classes provide students with an introduction to music. We currently offer the following group classes:
-Piano Prep/Early Childhood (ages 3-5): Our Piano Prep / Early Childhood Classes provide your child with an opportunity to start young, when their aptitude is the highest. In a stimulating musical environment, your child will sing, dance and play their way towards developing the skills that are fundamental to beginning piano or other instrumental lessons. Activities will focus on games that assist children in developing musically and that encourage a love of music. Children may participate in multiple sessions and join at any time. Piano Prep Classes prepare children for successful participation in private lessons.
-Beginning Piano (ages 6-9): These piano classes will excite brand new beginners and help them discover what piano playing is all about. In a fun, relaxed setting, students will participate in lessons designed to develop their creative skills at the piano and build the ability to play a variety of music with ease.
-Adult Piano (17 and older): This class is for beginner adults of all ages who want to learn to play the piano or re-learn in a relaxed, fun and pressure free atmosphere.
-Suzuki Violin (ages 5-8): The Suzuki Method develops a child's ear and technique before involving note reading. Children learn by small steps and rely on sound and pitch, which allows him/her to grow in ability and confidence before introducing music notation. All music is memorized, and pitches are learned before musicality and expression can be applied. Suzuki Violin classes provide an opportunity for students to play together as a group and perform solos for each other. They learn how to encourage each other and provide constructive criticism. Each student can show others what he/she has accomplished and will be motivated by the progress of the others.
Theory, Ear Training and Sight Singing (Ages 3-Adult)
All private instructions incorporate music history, theory, ear training and sight singing through our bimonthly musicianship classes. These skills work in conjunction with your private lessons. Mastering them will make you a better musician.
Concerts and Recitals
RSM provide students various opportunities to perform by presenting several recitals throughout the year. All students are expected to perform in at least two recitals. See our calendar for recital dates.
